Are you tired of holding yourself back? Have you ever found yourself knowing the direction you want to go, but something inside stops you from taking that first step? Welcome to the final episode in our “Stop Self-Sabotage” series, where we dive deep into the patterns that hinder our progress and reveal the last of the eight self-sabotage behaviors.
In this episode, we explore the necessity of taking personal responsibility for your life. It’s easy to feel stuck or blame outside circumstances when we’re not seeing the results we want. But what if the true barrier is fear of what will happen when we take full responsibility?
Many of us resist stepping fully into our desired path because it demands that we own the process—and the potential outcomes. Whether you’re starting a business, transforming your health, or improving your relationships, it all begins with holding yourself accountable for your results. As Lauren discusses, this means not only knowing your direction but also giving yourself the structure and self-discipline necessary to follow through.
Listen and watch it here:
Self-discipline can often sound rigid or restrictive, but Lauren emphasizes that it’s about finding the structure that works best for you. Creating personalized plans, schedules, and boundaries is crucial in developing the discipline to follow through on your desires.
Yet discipline alone isn’t enough. We must also cultivate unconditional self-love. This means accepting ourselves, flaws and all, and forgiving our past mistakes. Only then can we move forward with confidence. The key principle here is: Do you love yourself enough to take the action needed to achieve your goals? Self-love isn’t just about feeling good; it’s about taking the necessary steps to honor your deepest desires.
One of the most powerful metaphors from this episode is the image of the knight on the white horse. The knight represents chivalry, duty, and a clear mission, symbolizing the virtues of living with purpose. Behind the knight stands a black horse, representing past pain and struggles.
Most of us are driven by the desire to move away from pain. However, focusing solely on what we don’t want can trap us in an endless loop of attracting more of the same negative outcomes. The white horse, on the other hand, symbolizes moving forward with a focus on desires and purpose. It’s about looking ahead, trusting in a brighter future, and allowing past lessons to fuel progress—not hold us back.
The knight also reminds us of the importance of protection. It’s not about people-pleasing or rescuing others at your own expense, but about recognizing when and how to help, while maintaining strong boundaries.
Three key reasons why we self-sabotage:
To overcome these barriers, it’s essential to align yourself with your passion and purpose. When you’re clear on what drives you and what you want to contribute to the world, you can make decisions with confidence and courage.
Remember, the journey towards your goals will feel uncomfortable at times. Stepping out of your comfort zone is necessary for growth. As Lauren points out, successful and happy people continuously challenge themselves to move beyond what feels safe, knowing that true progress comes from embracing discomfort.
The secret to achieving the life you want is simple: take action. While the principle of getting results may seem obvious, it’s often where most of us fall short.
So, as you reflect on this final episode, ask yourself: What’s the first step you can take today towards your empowered future? And, more importantly, do you love yourself enough to take it?
By focusing on your desires, setting healthy boundaries, and trusting your inner wisdom, you can move forward with purpose and create the life you’ve always dreamed of.
